Description
Number 3 buildings of the premises occupied by M A Lloyd and Son is a listed building dating from around 1840 to 1850. It is a rare example of a large early to mid 19th century works with living accommodation. The building features a tall, three-storey symmetrical elevation made of red brick, arranged in five bays with a 2:1:2 configuration, where the central bay is slightly recessed. It has an engineering brick plinth, a stucco sill course on the first floor, a flush band that defines the frieze, and a projecting stone cornice with a blocking course that is recessed in the center. The windows are tall, three by three pane revealed sashes with finely gauged flat arches. The second floor has a tripartite central window with stucco heads and an architrave. There is a large waggon entrance at the center of the ground floor, featuring a segmental gauged brick arch with stucco sections of entablature acting as imposts, along with narrow vertical panels on the double door. The rear wings of the building provide shopping space leading to the yard.
