Description
The premises occupied by Brytek Polishing Company, located at 1 Princip Street, date from around 1840 to 1850. This small canalside works is two storeys high and constructed of red brick with an engineering brick plinth. The building features four bays, a gutter eaves, and a low-pitched slate roof. It has revealed glazing bar sash windows with cambered header arches and stucco sills; the windows consist of 4 x 4 panes, with 3 x 4 panes on the office door. The office door is revealed in two orders with a cambered arch. There is a segmental arched yard entrance in the second bay from the left. This modest but unaltered works elevation is characteristic of early to mid-19th century design and is now a rarity in what remains of the gun quarter. The rear facade includes a loading bay that faces the canal.
