Description
Nos 234 and 236 on Mary Vale Road in Bournville were built around 1905 by W A Harvey in the Arts and Crafts style. The building features roughcast walls and a tiled roof, forming a single composition. It is two storeys high and has three bays, with the outer bays slightly projecting and supported by tall battered buttresses topped with gables.
On the ground floor, there is a broad bowed shop front with a central door, along with two doors leading to residences above, all set within a single porch that has a broad segmental arch. There is also a second shop front. The first floor includes a polygonal bay window, two almost square two-light casement windows, and another polygonal bay window. The first-floor windows are fitted with leaded lights, although some are partly missing in No 236.
