Description

This is a tall, two-and-a-half-story stucco villa, likely dating from around 1850 to 1855. It originally comprised a three-bay main section with slightly recessed, two-story, one-bay wings. The villa stands on a plinth, with a decorative band marking the first floor and another at the frieze and eaves. Console brackets support the flat eaves of the slate roof, and tall corniced chimneys flank the building. The ground floor windows have architraves that rise from the plinth; the first-floor windows have moulded cornices that also act as plinths for their architraves. Similar treatment extends to the attic-storey windows that are set into the frieze. A significant feature is the central first-floor window, which rises above the roofline of the pilastered, parapetted porch. The porch has a moulded plinth, and its walls are channelled, returning to reveal the doorway. Double panelled doors are topped with a rectangular fanlight. The recessed wings feature cornices, blocking courses, and architraves to their windows.
