Description

Malthouse Farmhouse is a late 16th-century timber-framed building that was largely refaced in the 18th century with brick and has an old tile roof. It is situated on Alcester Road South, Kings Heath. The house is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the left bay gabled and projecting forward. The ground floor features a tripartite window, a smaller entrance door, a quadripartite window, the main entrance door, and a single, almost square window. All ground-floor windows and doors are topped with segmental relieving arches. The first floor has a tripartite window with a segmental relieving arch, a squared tripartite window that breaks into the roofline, and a single window. The windows are casements, and most have glazing bars. To the left of the main house is a dairy, and to the right, an outhouse projects at a right angle. The gable end of the outhouse has an upper, segmental-headed doorway, accessed by a flight of brick steps that incorporate a dog’s kennel.
