Description

6 Warstone Lane is a small manufactory built in the late 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The exterior features painted channelled and lined-out stucco on brick, a central brick stack on the street-facing roof slope, and a slate roof covering.

The building has an L-shaped plan, with a rear workshop range extending from the west side of the main frontage range, angled to follow the irregular plot boundary. The street elevation is asymmetrical and consists of three storeys with three bays. It has an off-centre shallow arch-headed doorway flanked by windows, which now feature 20th-century joinery. To the left, there is a passage entrance leading to the rear yard, equipped with a roller shutter. The ground floor openings are set beneath a late 20th-century canopy supported by slender moulded cast metal columns. The first floor has two windows with stepped voussoired heads and 2 over 2 pane sash frames. The upper floor windows have 20th-century frames, with the window to the west being altered.

At the rear, there is a monopitch three-storey workshop range with stacks on the rear wall. This building is listed for its group value with No. 7 Warstone Lane and is part of a significant street frontage grouping of similar structures in Birmingham's manufacturing district, which is now recognized as being of international importance.
