Description
The Roving Bridge over the Birmingham/Wolverhampton Canal, located just west of the west Soho Loop entrance in Winson Green, is a cast iron bridge that dates back to 1848. It serves the double tow path of Telford's New Line and features a single shallow segmental arch. The bridge's parapets are designed in a saltire cross pattern and are made from three cast iron castings. The abutments are constructed from stone-dressed brick. The bridge is inscribed with the words “THE HORSELEY COMPANY TIPTON 1848.”
