Description

10 Cherry Street is a Grade II listed building located in the City Centre, constructed between 1881 and 1882 in an Arts and Crafts style by J L Ball, marking his first independent work. The building is made of red brick and features a tiled roof. It stands four storeys high, plus an attic, and has five irregular bays. The ground floor has modern or altered shop fronts.

On the first floor, there is a very shallow brick canted bay window that rises through two storeys. In the second bay, there is a single altered segment-headed window on the right, followed by two very shallow timber canted bay windows with leaded lights and garlands in the aprons. The fifth bay features another similar window and a narrow segment-headed sash window.

The second and third floors each have five pairs of casement windows. The second-floor windows are of cross type and have small pediments, while the third-floor windows are tucked beneath the eaves. All of these windows are set within a grid of pilasters and moulded string courses. The roof includes four dormer casement windows, each with small pediments. The return in Cherry Street, which includes the entrance to No 10 Cherry Street, is similarly designed but features a large gable.
