Description
Geoffrey Buildings, located at 1 John Bright Street, was built in 1901 and is constructed of brick and yellow terracotta with a tiled roof. It shares a similar architectural style with Nos 81 to 91 (odd) John Bright Street and is likely designed by the same architect. The building stands three storeys tall with an attic and features three bays plus a former entrance bay at the corner. The ground floor has a modern shop front that includes the entrance.
On the first floor, there are three round-headed windows set within terracotta panels that have cornices. The second floor contains three pairs of arched windows. The roof features two flat-headed dormer windows, one with five lights arranged in a 2:1:2 rhythm, and the other with two lights. The corner of the building has an inset canted bay window on the first floor that extends into the second floor and is connected across the corner to a single sentry-box-like window in front of a tall gable. The return on Lower Severn Street, which includes the entrance to No 5 Lower Severn Street, is generally similar to the main facade but has first floor windows with segmental arches within their moulded frames.
