Description
25 Constitution Hill is a late commercial palazzo located on a prominent corner site, built around 1882-1883. The building features four tall storeys with a sharply bowed corner. It is constructed of yellow and white brick, with ceramic brick pilasters that define the upper floors, topped with stone capitals and moulded cornices that serve as sill courses for each floor. The ground floor showcases rusticated white brick pilasters capped with a pediment above the cornice. A deep stone entablature with a bracketed cornice sits above the top floor, and there is a yellow brick parapet with panelled dies topped by anthemia. The windows are closely set and grouped in the main bays, featuring arcading with set back arches on the second floor and terracotta floral roundels in the spandrels. The ground floor has modern windows. The original stuccoed main entrance is located at the bowed corner, featuring a guilloche reveal to the architrave and a round arch with a key, panelled spandrels, and flanking half pilasters.
