Description
Nos 81 to 87 on John Bright Street, built around 1900, are notable for their brick and yellow terracotta construction. The building features three storeys plus an attic, with two bays that are separated by polygonal turrets extending through the first and second floors, as well as a canted corner and a return on Lower Severn Street. The ground floor has a modern shop front. On the first floor, there are four broad windows with ause-de-panier heads and intermittent voussoirs. The second floor includes, on the left, two shallow triangular bay windows beneath an entablature, above which rises a gable that contains a canted bay window. On the right side, there are four windows with three-light mullioned upper parts, arranged in a flat rhythm with two segmental arches, all beneath a parapet. The roof above features modern skylights. The corner and return on Lower Severn Street are generally similar but include a second floor acutely angled triangular bay window that rises to attic level in front of a steep gable.
