Description
Nos 12, 13, and 14 St Paul's Square are a group of three townhouses built around 1780 on the east side of the square. They are three storeys high and constructed of red brick. Number 12 features a five-bay front, while the other two houses have three bays each and are slightly stepped higher with the slope of the square. The buildings have painted stone plinths and small modillion brackets supporting the moulded cornices, which are topped with blocking courses. The windows are revealed glazing bar sash types with painted stone sills, flat arches, grooved voussoirs, and keystones. Each house has an identical wooden doorcase with engaged Tuscan columns, sections of entablature, and open pediments above the fanlight. In the center of the range, there is an elliptical carriage arch with voussoirs. This group of houses is noted for being the least altered sequence in the square.
