House, now shop with storage over. c1814-36 with later additions and alterations including later-C19 extension to rear and mid-C20 ground floor and shop front. EXTERIOR: 4 storeys, 2 first-floor windows. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco facade and Welsh slate roof. First floor: tall 6/6 sashes; second floor: 6/6 sashes with sills; third floor: 3/3 sashes with sills; all in plain reveals and tooled surrounds. Blocking course, copings. To rear are 6/6 and 8/8 sashes with plain reveals and sills. INTERIOR: between first and second floor a narrow-openwell staircase with stick balusters, similar dogleg staircase to third floor. 4- and 6-panel doors. Fireplace with fluted chimneypiece and cast-iron fireplace to second floor; 2 marble chimneypieces to first floor with double doors between front and rear rooms, frieze with c-scroll motif. Third floor has cast-iron fireplace. HISTORICAL NOTE: the Parade was so-named in 1860. Originally called Lillington Lane, it was renamed Union Row c1809, Union Parade by 1814 and was known as the Parade by 1860. The lower section was laid out c1810-14, with further building from c1820-1840. Built as houses, hotels and lodging-houses, by 1850 many had become shops.
