Description
The Saxon Mill, part of the Saxon Mill Restaurant, is a mill-house of late medieval origin, with embellishments from the 18th century and later. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features a stone eaves cornice. The building has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends and stands two storeys high. There are two archways; one is blocked, while the other houses the water-wheel. An arcaded balcony, supported on iron posts, extends across part of the facade, and there is a smaller balcony to the east, which is supported on brackets and has a canopy above. The openings feature elliptical arches, modern two-light casements with leaded panes, and modern plank doors.
