Description

Castle Park House is a house likely built in the early 18th century on medieval foundations, as noted by Dugdale. It is a two-storey plus attic structure with a three-window front facing southwest. Originally built with red brickwork, stone quoins, and keyblocks, the front is now rendered in 19th-century stucco; a section of the original brickwork remains visible at the west angle. The north-east rear elevation, facing Gallows Street, is unremarkable. It features sash windows in plain reveals and has a hipped roof covered with brindle tiles. The property includes fragments of ancient foundations in the grounds. A modern brick porch has been added. The Old London road likely passed close to the southwest through what is now the back garden.
