Description

This is a three-storey house, built around 1818 to 1830, and now used as a shop with storage space above. It’s located on Regent Street in Royal Leamington Spa. The exterior is pinkish-brown brick, colour-washed to the front facade, and has a Welsh slate roof.

The front has one window on the first floor and two on the second. The first-floor window is a 6/6 sash, while the second-floor window is a 4/8 sash. All windows are set in plain reveals with a sill and a cambered arch. The ground floor has a glazed entrance and a modern glazed shop front. A parapet sits on the right gable. A ridge stack with a cornice is also visible.

The interior has not been inspected.

Regent Street received its name in 1819 after a visit from the Prince Regent. Formerly known as Cross Street, it was one of the first streets to be built in the “New Town” around 1808 to 1814 and was originally constructed as brick-fronted houses.

The building is part of a group with numbers 48, 50, and 52, and number 60, all on Regent Street.
