Description

Tudor Cottage and Wisteria Cottage is a hall house that has been converted into a house, with an addition that now forms a separate house. It is likely from the late 15th century and was floored in the 17th century, with a 17th-century addition creating a cross-wing at the rear right. The exterior features false large timber-framing with rendered panels over the original large framing, a cedar shingle roof, and brick lateral stacks at the rear. The building is two stories high, with a two-bay, two-window range. There is a 20th-century door leading to a 20th-century porch on the left side, and the windows are irregularly arranged with 20th-century casements. Inside, there is a concave-moulded spine beam with roll-moulding in the dining room on the ground floor to the right, as well as a winder staircase leading to the first floor. The roof features queen-post construction with wattle-and-daub infill between the original hall and the right bay. The 17th-century cross-wing at the right rear has large timber-framing with rendered infill, a thatch roof, and brick ridge stacks on either side of the center. This section is single story with an attic and has a two-bay range, with a 20th-century plank door to the left of center, an angled bay window in the center, and a swept dormer also in the center. The interior of this section has not been inspected.
