Description
Offchurch Bury is a Grade II* house dating from the late 18th century, likely incorporating earlier structures. It is built of stone ashlar with an old plain-tile roof and features various brick stacks at the rear. The building is two stories high and has a seven-window range with a cross-wing to the left. The central entrance has a Gothick double-leaf part-glazed door with a fanlight, framed by a stone architrave and clustered Gothick shafts supporting an entablature. All openings contain 12-pane unhorned sash windows with four-centre arched heads and Gothick glazing bars, and the building is topped with a battlemented parapet.
On the right side, there is a two-story angled bay with similar 12-pane unhorned sash windows. At the rear, a porch on the left features four-centre arches, and the fenestration is irregular, consisting mainly of 12-pane sashes, except for a four-centre arched staircase window with a Gothick balustrade and panelled dado. Inside, there is some possibly 17th-century panelling in the center room on the ground floor, and the sitting room to the right has fielded panelling and a richly carved fireplace surround.
