Description
This is a mid-19th century villa, later converted into flats. It is located on Kenilworth Road, Royal Leamington Spa, and forms part of a group of villas at numbers 20, 22, 26, 28, 30, 36, 38 and 46. The villa is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco front facade, and has a Welsh slate roof.
The building is two storeys high with three first-floor windows. It features alternately rusticated quoins, a plinth, and outer bays that extend to the full height of the building. The ground floor has horizontal rustication. A first-floor band is surmounted by a blind balustrade. The windows are 1/1 sashes, all with horns, set in plain reveals with moulded sills. Ground-floor windows have rusticated keystones, while first-floor windows have tooled surrounds; the central first-floor window is round-arched.
A central entrance has four roll-edged steps leading to a four-panel door with sidelights and a cambered overlight, framed by a cavetto-moulded surround and a rusticated keystone. The building has a modillion cornice, as well as tall end and roof stacks with cornices.
The interior of the villa was not inspected as part of the listing process.
Kenilworth Road was developed between 1834 and 1838.
