Description

Number 4 is a house, built between 1828 and 1836, and later altered in the later 19th century. It is now a dental surgery and has attached railings. The house is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco front facade, and has a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high with attics, and has three first-floor windows. At either end are full-height panelled pilasters, a plain frieze, a cornice, and a low parapet that hides attic dormers. The first floor has a blind opening in the centre, and otherwise two six-pane sashes in moulded surrounds, with plain reveals and sills. The ground floor has a central entrance with six steps leading to a boarded door in a tooled surround with a pediment. Canted bays on either side each have three single-pane sashes, a frieze, and a cornice. There are end stacks with a cornice to the left.

The interior contains a dog-leg staircase with stick balusters to the rear, and remnants of cornices to the ground floor. The attached railings to the sides of the steps and abutting to the left have bars with ornate spear-head finials.
