Description

This is a circa mid-18th century brick house built in the Gothic style. The front and side elevations are finished with roughcast, with plaster quoins marking the corners, and sit upon sandstone foundations. The steeply pitched plain tile roof has gabled ends. The house is two storeys high. The central gable features a cinquefoil window in the apex, and on the ground floor, a six-panel door with a four-centred arched fanlight containing intersecting tracery. A gabled porch with polygonal pillars supports the door. To the left and right of the door are two-light and three-light casement windows respectively, set within four-centred arched openings with leaded panes and intersecting tracery. Two brick ridge chimney stacks are present.

Attached at a right angle to the rear is an earlier timber-framed wing dating to the 16th century. This wing has close-set studding with red brick nogging; the southern side of the brick nogging has been renewed. It also has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends and sandstone foundations. A central oak plank door is set within a moulded architrave. The ground and first floors of this wing have two three-light casement windows with leaded panes, and two gabled dormers with two-light casement windows with glazing bars. Above the door is a jettied gabled bay with a small two-light casement with glazing bars. A large central ridge chimney stack, featuring four square brick shafts, is also present.
