Description

No 9 New Street is a timber-framed building dating to the second half of the 15th century. The first floor is jettied, revealing exposed cantilevered joists. The upper framing is covered with roughcast rendering, while the lower walls have been rebuilt using brickwork and are partly stuccoed. The roof has been restored with old tiles. The first floor has casement windows, and the ground floor originally had two sash windows, although one has now been altered into a casement. Records from the Victoria County History (Volume 8, page 426) reference the building.
