Description
No. 3 New Street is a building from 1781 with a symmetrical two-storey facade made of red brick and stone dressings. The wooden doorcase features simple Tuscan pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice, leading to a modern two-panel bolection-moulded door. Above the door is a niche with a semi-domical head, and above that is a semi-circular three-light window. On either side of the building are identical two-storey splayed brick bays, each containing sash windows in cased frames and two small ornamental cast lead rainwater pipes. All openings are adorned with stone keyblocks and continuous plain string bands above. The top four courses of the parapet have been rebuilt. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 1, 3, 5, and 5A.
