Description
This is a house, dating from around the late 15th or early 16th century, that was remodelled in the early 19th century. It is timber-framed and faced with red brick, featuring a low-pitched slate roof with gabled ends. A brick stack is located on the front left corner. Originally, the house likely comprised a two-bay open hall, which was later floored and, in the early 19th century, remodelled and bricked over. It now has a two-room plan, effectively one large room with an entrance passage on the right.
The front elevation has three storeys and two windows. There are 16-pane sashes with cambered brick arches; the ground floor on the left features a canted bay window with a matching sash, and the second floor has two smaller, two-light casements with glazing bars. A doorway on the right has a semi-circular fanlight with vertical glazing bars and a panelled door.
Inside the left room, there are large square joists, halved onto the mid-rail of the left wall and supported on the top of the central partition's mid-rail. A Queen-post roof incorporates large curved braces to the tie-beam and clasped purlins, with smoke-blackening visible. Information about the interior was provided by Warwick District Council.
