Description

The Malt House, located at 21 and 23 West Street, is a building dating from the 16th or 17th century, with origins around 1630 or earlier. It was formerly known as the Malt Shovel Inn. Although it has been extensively restored, it remains a charming feature of the street and contributes positively to the approach to West Gate. The building includes a gabled cross wing and has pillars supporting the ground floor porch. It is part of a group that includes Nos 21 to 29 (odd).
