Description
The Manor House, along with its attached railings, gates, and piers, dates from around 1700 and has undergone later additions and alterations, including 20th-century restorations and extensions at the rear. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a plain tile roof with pinkish-brick chimneys. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of two storeys with an attic on the left gable, and four first-floor windows. It has multi-pane casements throughout. The entrance is off-centre, featuring a part-glazed door set within an architrave that is flanked by fluted Doric pilasters and topped with a hood. A tall ridge stack is positioned between the third and fourth windows, and there are stepped rear stacks on the extension.
Inside, the main hall boasts panelling and a staircase with barleytwist balusters, along with exposed beams and rafters. The slender area railings on the right side have two levels of bars with a circle motif, complemented by tall, columnar end and gate piers that are topped with ball finials. The Manor House forms a group with the Church of St Mary Magdalene on Church Street in Lillington.
