Description

These boundary walls, gate piers, and railings date to around 1879 and were designed by George Gilbert Scott junior. They are constructed of pinkish-red brick with ashlar and Coade stone dressings, and incorporate cast-iron railings. The walls form an L-shaped enclosure in four sections, measuring 15, 12, 12, and 20 metres in length. The walls are low in height and punctuated by banded piers, with taller gate piers topped by small obelisks on scrolls. The railings have bars, some of which are surmounted by cresting. The boundary treatment forms an architectural group with numbers 4, 6 and 8 St Mark’s Road (the former vicarage) and St Mark’s Church on Rugby Road.
