Description

The war memorial in Royal Leamington Spa was erected in 1922 and features later additions. It was sculpted by Albert Toft of Birmingham and is made of Cornish granite with a bronze statue. The memorial has a square plinth on a stepped base, approximately 2 meters high, topped with a life-size figure of a soldier, who has his head bowed and hands resting on an upright rifle. The plinth is inscribed on all four sides with the names of those who died in both World Wars, as well as in Korea and the Falklands. The memorial was unveiled on 27 May 1922 by Lieutenant-General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weeton.
