Description
The Aspens is a house located on Banbury Road in Bishops Tachbrook, dating from the 17th to 18th century. The front section, which is from the 18th century, is constructed of painted brick and features a hipped plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a centrally placed door accessed by two steps, framed by a moulded wooden doorcase. The windows are sash style, adorned with plaster rusticated lintels and cills.
At the rear, there is an earlier 17th century section that is set at right angles to the main house. This part has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends and timber-framing visible in the gable. It also has two storeys and a two-window range. The ground floor features three segmental arched openings, which include cross mullion/transom casements with leaded lights and a six-panel door. The first floor has mullioned casements with leaded lights. The house is topped with two brick chimney stacks.
