Description

Jackson’s Farmhouse, Wayside, and Willows End are a group of three houses, originally a farmhouse, dating to the 17th century with later alterations. The houses are constructed of painted brick, with some timber-frame and painted brick infill to the right of the centre, and have a gabled roof covered in old tiles, with brick lateral and ridge stacks. The original layout comprised a 5-unit plan with a rear cross-wing.

The exterior is single storey with an attic, featuring a 6-window range and a top dentil brick cornice. Jackson’s Farmhouse, on the right, has a 20th-century hipped porch with a plank door and small-paned glazing, flanked by windows with 3-light small-paned iron opening casements. Two hipped half-dormers have 3-light cross-casements; the right one has leaded glazing and the left, small-paned glazing.

No. 27 features a large gabled open porch with splat balusters on the sides and an overlight to a panelled and glazed door. A window to the left has a 3-light small-paned casement. The first floor has a hipped half-dormer with a 3-light transomed casement and another hipped dormer with a 3-light casement.

No. 29 has an entrance to the left of centre with a 20th-century lean-to open porch and a plank door. A segmental-headed window to the right has a 2-light leaded casement, and a 20th century window with a leaded casement to the left. The first floor has a 3-light leaded glazing with an iron opening casement, a small leaded light, and a hipped half-dormer with a 3-light transomed and small-paned casement.

The interior is noted to contain 17th-century staircases.
