Description

The Woodlands is a house, now divided into two flats, dating from the 18th century and refronted in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with a stucco finish and features a tiled roof with brick stacks at the ends and rear. The building is designed in the Georgian style and has two storeys with a symmetrical three-window arrangement.

Notable architectural features include a stucco plinth, a platt band above the ground floor, and a top entablature with a parapet that steps up to a central rectangular panel. The entrance is framed by a doorcase with panelled pilasters and an altered open pediment, leading to a glazed panelled door. The ground floor is distinguished by two canted bay windows, each topped with cornices and hipped slate roofs, featuring plate glass horned sashes and a cast-iron gutter adorned with lion masks. The first-floor windows have sills and 20-pane sashes.

At the rear, there is a gabled wing and various additions, including a stable range on the right return. The left return displays varied fenestration and an entrance with panelled pilasters, large scrolly acanthus brackets, a fluted frieze, and entablature blocks supporting an open pediment. Above the entrance, there is a fanlight with decorative glazing bars over a six-fielded-panel door. The building features three first-floor sash windows and two ground-floor canted bays.
