Description
Two attached barns, now used as looseboxes and animal housing, are located next to The Poplars Farmhouse. The barn on the right, closest to the house, dates from the 17th century, while the end barn is likely from the 18th century. Both barns are timber framed with square framing, tension braces, and brick infill, and they feature weatherboarding above. The end barn has only weatherboarding. They sit on a brick plinth and have old tile roofs, each consisting of three bays that form one range. The end barn has a central half-height plank double door, while the right barn has a plank door in the right corner and a central plank pitchhole with a door. The first bay of the right barn has a blocked barn doorway, and the left return side has two small inserted windows. At the rear, the end barn has a stable door in the first bay and a blocked barn doorway. Inside, floors have been inserted, but these do not affect the structure. There are retaining walls and braces, with partitions inserted between the looseboxes. The roof structure is not visible. These barns form a group with The Poplars Farmhouse, which adds to their significance.
