Description

A row of four cottages located at Lower End, Avon Dassett, dating to the 18th and early 19th centuries, with some 20th-century alterations. The cottages are constructed from regular coursed ironstone, with concrete tile roofs and brick ridge and end stacks. Numbers 3 and 4 are a pair. Each of the first three cottages initially had a single-unit plan and are generally one-window ranges. Number 3 features a 20th-century French window with glazing bars, and a 19th-century casement window above. Number 4 has a 20th-century plank door with a concrete tile hood, and a 20th-century leaded casement window. A late 20th-century casement window is present on the first floor. Number 5 is larger and taller, with a two-unit plan and a two-window range. It has a 20th-century plank door within a reduced doorway, covered by a concrete tile hood, and late 20th-century casement windows. Number 6 is set back on the right and dates to the early 19th century. It is a small two-unit plan, two-storeys high, with a two-window range. A 20th-century part-glazed door is situated on the left, with a concrete tile hood, alongside a small window to the right. Leaded light casement windows and painted wood lintels are present throughout the row. The interiors have not been inspected.
