Description
The Thatches is an 18th-century cottage, possibly originally comprised of two dwellings. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with a thatched roof and a brick ridge stack. The cottage has a two-unit plan and one storey with an attic. The front facade has a two-window range. The entrance on the left has a late 20th-century glazed door with a painted lintel, and an open thatched porch supported by rough posts. A small 20th-century window is positioned to the right of the entrance. The right-hand side of the cottage features a two-light leaded casement with a wood lintel and a 20th-century glazed door with a painted lintel. There are two small swept-roof dormers; the left-hand dormer has a two-light leaded casement, while the right-hand dormer has a 19th-century casement. An attic casement is present on the right return side. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
