Description
A pair of houses dated 1818-22, situated on Guild Street in Stratford-upon-Avon. The houses are constructed of brick with buff headers, stucco dressings, and have a slate roof with hipped ends and brick end and cross-axial stacks. They are built in a Georgian style, presenting a symmetrical three-window facade over three storeys. Plain eaves are present. The entrance is round-headed, featuring a doorcase with reeded pilasters and an open pediment, topped by a fanlight with radial glazing bars above a six-fielded-panel door. Later 19th-century canted bay windows with consoled cornices are on the ground floor. The upper floors feature sills and wedge lintels above plate-glass horned sash windows. The right return has an entrance with a six-flush-panel door. Windows on the right return have wedge lintels above 12-pane sashes, with the first-floor window on the left mirroring the front facade as a sash, and the second floor featuring 6-pane sashes. These houses are part of the early 19th century development, known as New Town, in the northern part of Stratford.
