Description
This is a Regency cottage dating from 1812 to 1814, with alterations around 1820. It is constructed of painted brick, with a tile roof to the rear and a slate front pitch, and brick end stacks. The front, a gable facing left, is in a Georgian style with a symmetrical three-window arrangement and wide eaves. The front door is set within a moulded doorcase featuring paterae and a bracketed canopy, and has an overlight above a 20th-century six-panel door. Flanking the entrance are two-storey canted bay windows, likely added around 1820, with a cornice to the ground floor and an entablature above. The ground floor sashes have 4:12:4 panes, while a small central first-floor window has a two-light casement. A gabled rear wing and a parallel range extend to the rear. The right return side presents two gables, with the left gable exhibiting a gentler front pitch. An entrance is visible, along with small square windows; a first-floor window to the left has a rubbed brick flat arch over a 16-pane sash. The interior is noted to have two fireplaces, moulded doorcases to panelled doors, a 20th-century staircase, and an arched ceiling to a small landing corridor.
