Description
Five headstones located approximately 12 meters south of the Lady Chapel at the Church of St Peter date from the early 18th century and are made of limestone ashlar. Two small rectangular inscription tablets, each about 18 inches by 18 inches, are topped with moulded decoration, though this has eroded over time. To the east of these tablets is a rectangular headstone featuring a central oval inscription plate flanked by fronds and topped with a cherub-head within an eroded swan-neck pediment. Southeast of this headstone is another rectangular tablet with acroteria and a slightly depressed inscription tablet, which is also eroded. To the northeast, there is a rectangular tablet with a moulded surround and a fielded inscription tablet, topped with a broken swan-neck pediment that has a cherub-head in between. All of these headstones contribute to a cohesive group with the Church of St Peter.
