Description
17 and 18 Church Street are a pair of houses built in 1856, located in Stratford-upon-Avon. They are constructed of brick with stucco dressings and feature a slate roof with brick stacks at both the ends and the center. Designed in the Georgian style, the houses rise three stories and have a symmetrical five-window arrangement. The façade includes brick end pilasters, a top brick frieze, and a stucco cornice.
The central entrance is segmental-headed and is flanked by cast-iron gates. There are additional entrances on either side, each adorned with Doric pilasters and Tuscan entablatures, overlights, and two-fielded-panel doors, with one door retaining margin lights. The windows are set with sills, plastered reveals, and rusticated wedge lintels with keys, featuring 12-pane sashes, while the second floor has 6-pane sashes. The rear of the building has a modillioned brick cornice and two gabled wings.
