Description
Pilbridge House is a house located on Pill Lane in Little Compton, dating from the 17th to early 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with quoins and features stone-slate roofs with stone ridge and end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and is two stories high, with a four-window range that includes two- and three-light casements, all with old wood shutters. The windows are topped with stone flat arches and wood lintels. To the right, there is a 20th-century door with a wood lintel, while a 17th-century plank door is located at the rear. A 19th-century two-storey stone extension is also present on the right side.
Inside, there is a 4-centred arched stone fireplace with a hollow-chamfered surround, and a chamfered spine beam with an ogee stop. Some areas feature stone flagged floors, and there are mood window seats with original small window boxes on either side. The interior also includes several 17th-century plank doors and a part-restored dog-leg staircase with flat balusters. The house is shown on the Ordnance Survey map as Catball.
