Description
The Oaks is a house built around 1820, constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and topped with a hipped slate roof featuring three brick return lateral stacks. The building is designed in a Georgian style and has an L-plan layout, standing three storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window arrangement. The top eaves soffit is supported by slender paired brackets.
The entrance features a doorcase adorned with lion masks at the corners, leading to a Doric porch that includes a triglyph frieze and guttae. There are later 19th-century canted bay windows that have top cornices and rubbed brick flat arches above plate glass sashes. The upper floor windows have sills and are topped with rubbed brick flat arches over 16-pane sashes, while the second floor features 4/8-pane sashes.
To the left of the main house is a range of farm buildings that have been significantly altered. At the rear, there is a large 20th-century wing.
