Description
This lychgate, located approximately 15 meters west of the Church of St. Botolph, was likely constructed around 1875 by Sir George Gilbert Scott. It features a timber structure supported by low, regularly coursed ironstone walls and has a stone slate roof. The design includes central posts on both the left and right, which are connected by curved braces and secondary braces, along with a tie-beam between the posts. The roof is supported by queen struts. The gates are made of chamfered wood, each consisting of 20 open panels, and they have brattished top rails and finials. The lychgate was probably built during the church's restoration in 1875 and is included for its group value with the church.
