Description

Oak House is an early 17th-century house located on Alcester Meeting Lane. It features a timber frame with lath and plaster and whitewashed brick infill. The roof is covered with old tiles and has a half-hipped design, with a brick stack at the rear. The house is laid out in an L-plan and has a jettied first floor supported by moulded scroll brackets. The entrance is marked by a central late 20th-century door. The windows are irregularly placed, including early 19th-century iron casements and an old leaded fixed light window next to the door.

The left and right return sides of the house have jowled posts and large diagonal braces. On the left side, there is a small original three-light window with chamfered wood mullions on the first floor. The right side has part of the first floor rebuilt in brick. At the rear, there is a catslide roof with a brick stack, and a timber-framed wing on the right features a jowled post and a framed gable, with the wall below rebuilt in whitewashed brick.

Inside, the house has much exposed framing and two open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers; one of these includes a fire window with crown glass. The doors are made of plank and two panels, fitted with H and H-L hinges.
