Description

The Garden Ground is a cottage with attached kitchen garden walls, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is built of red brick and features an old tile roof with a central brick stack. The cottage has a two-unit plan, is one storey high with an attic, and has a two-window range. The front facing the kitchen garden has three-light casements on both the left and right sides. The center includes a 20th-century glazed door on the left and a two-light casement on the right. The openings are topped with brick segmental arches. There are hipped dormers with three-light casements and glazing bars throughout. The entrance on the left return side also has a 20th-century glazed door. There are slight alterations from the 20th century. The gable features brick corbelling. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is flanked by high attached walls on the left and right, constructed in English garden wall bond brick with flat stone coping, and there is a plain gateway. The right return section includes a small gate with a segmental arch.
