Description
Old Thatch is a building that consists of two cottages, which have been converted into a single house. It dates from the 18th century, with evidence of 17th-century timber framing. The front facade is rendered and whitewashed, while the right gable end and rear are constructed of brick and stone. The building features an exposed timber frame on the right gable and has a thatched roof with a brick chimney stack. There is a late 20th-century addition to the left, made of brick with a tiled roof.
The main range of the building is one and a half storeys tall and has a plinth. There are two entrances located at the center and left, both featuring part-glazed doors from the 20th century. The windows are casement style with glazing bars, with one window on either side of the central doorway and another in the gable end wall. The left end has a stack with a cornice, and the right gable end displays a tie- and collar-beam queen post truss along with principal rafters. The original wall plate and purlins are visible and project from the structure. The interior has not been inspected.
