Description
Gannaway Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with later additions and alterations, including 19th-century extensions to the left. The building features square timber-framing with brick infill, while the right end is rendered. It has a plain-tile roof and brick stacks, arranged in a 4-unit plan with a cross-wing.
The exterior consists of a single storey plus an attic. The entrance is located in a porch at the angle, featuring a plank door with a moulded wood frame. To the right of the entrance, there are two 2-light fixed-light windows with lead cames. The cross-wing, which projects to the left, has 3-light casements on both the ground and attic floors, also with lead cames. There is a gabled dormer on the return to the right and a catslide roof at the rear of the cross-wing. The rear displays small timber-framing, while the building is topped with steeply pitched gabled roofs and has a massive axial stack with three square brick shafts.
Inside, the farmhouse retains extensive timber-framing, with close-studding on the right and smaller frames in the centre.
