Description

This is a row of four cottages located on Southam Road, dating from the 18th century. Number 29 has a front that was raised in the early to mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of whitewashed brick, while number 32 features colourwashed roughcast. They have thatched roofs, with 19th-century brick ridge and right end stacks. Number 29, on the left, has a timber-framed end wall with large framing and whitewashed brick infill, and a 20th-century tile roof. Each cottage was originally designed as a one-unit plan, with one storey and an attic, although number 29 is two storeys high. The row has a four-window range. Number 29 features a 19th-century four-panelled door on the right, a three-light casement window to the left, and a two-light casement window above, all with glazing bars. Number 30 has a late 20th-century door and a thatched trellis porch, along with a 20th-century bow window. Number 31 includes a late 20th-century glazed door and a thatched rustic porch, with a four-pane window to the left and a three-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars to the right, which has shutters. Number 32 has a late 20th-century door and a bow window. Most of the ground floor openings feature brick segmental arches. The row includes three swept dormers with two-light casement windows. The interiors have not been inspected. This row of cottages is included for its group value.
