Description

This pedestal tomb, located approximately 27 meters northwest of the tower of the Church of All Saints in Stretton on Dunsmore, dates from 1806 and was restored in 1965. It is made of sandstone with marble panels and is designed in a Neoclassical style. The tomb features a base of two steps, a large pedestal with a moulded plinth and a heavy cornice, and a stepped top adorned with a gadrooned urn that has a guilloche band. The inscription added in 1965 commemorates Joseph Elkington, a pioneer of land drainage, and the restoration was carried out by the Warwickshire Agricultural Society.
