Description

Moor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th to early 17th century, with some minor additions and alterations from the 19th century. It features a timber frame with a sandstone plinth, whitewashed brick infill, and some plastered infill on the sides and rear, along with additional whitewashed brick sections. The building has a complex roof structure with old plain tiles, including double-span and other roofs, and partly rebuilt old brick lateral and ridge stacks. The farmhouse is arranged in a complex L-plan with a wing extending to the right at the rear and stands two storeys tall.

The main range has two windows and twin gables, with a central 20th-century ribbed door. The windows are three-light casements with glazing bars, and there is a lean-to on the right featuring a similar two-light casement. A short one-window wing is set back on the left, and there is a 19th-century outshut across the front at one storey and attic level. A small dormer with a two-light casement and a horizontal glazing bar is also present. The left return side displays jowled posts, while the rear of the building is irregular.

Inside, the room on the left boasts fine late 16th to 17th-century panelling, featuring a frieze of fluted pilaster strips and jewel work. It includes an arched entrance and an overmantel with two blind arches and drops. The rear room reveals exposed framing and an open fireplace, with a stepped-stop-chamfered bressumer and ceiling beam. A room in the left wing is said to have served as the Manor Court Room, with a lock-up located below.
