Description
This building is a cottage located approximately 30 meters southeast of the Victorian Lodge on Brinklow Road. It dates from the early 18th century and was probably originally timber-framed. The exterior is now rendered brick with a thatched roof and features 19th-century blue brick stacks along the ridge. The cottage has one storey plus an attic and consists of a three-window range.
A 19th-century plank door is set within a plain wood surround and is topped by a moulded wood hood with a small gable. The ground floor has 19th-century two-light casements on the left, center, and right, while the dormers to the center and right have small two-light casements. There is a one-bay extension on the right side. The cottage sits on a rendered plinth and is decorated with applied imitation timber-framing.
There is a 20th-century extension at the rear and a lean-to extension on the left. Inside, the cottage features chamfered beams, some of which have stops. The roof is said to retain original timbers, some of which are visible in the attic.
