Description

Fennis Field Bridge is a Grade II listed bridge that carries the towpath across the abandoned Fennis Field Arm of the Oxford Canal. Built between 1831 and 1834, it features a single span with a cambered deck made of prefabricated cast-iron plates. The bridge has an openwork parapet with moulded cast-iron railings that create a regular, elongated diamond pattern. It is supported by solid brick abutments and trailing edge wing walls, which are topped with brick copings. The bridge was constructed as part of improvements to the Oxford Canal, with William Cubitt serving as the consulting engineer.
